August in DC

August in DC means fun and the PG Pool, (killer whales win!), Faith's best stroke is breast and she became a great swimmer.

Charlie 's August bring mysterious ankle pains that can be fixed by band-aids on his finger, breakfast burritos, and ice cream. He also likes to dress up as a super hero.

Rosemary has added new words at a rapid pace! She can say towel, Olivia, Charlie, Faith, "Get Out" "Mine" and puppy.

I love them all so very much.

4 Years Later

I haven't blogged in 4 years. A summer project to resume. Life has changed in 4 years--Rosemary and Charlie being the most obvious manifestations. Perhaps Facebook takes away some of the usefulness of a blog-who needs to post when they can update 200 friends in 20 seconds. My dearest purpose for this blog perhaps will return to what it was intended for-a way for my children someday to see what life was like through the eyes of their mom. So for June 2010, I'll list a few developments and particularities to the here and now.

Faith--home with a temperature of 102 for the past two days. Causes me to sleep on her floor all night to keep on eye on her. I am a nervous wreck due to the death of a child in our neighborhood and every little symptom scares me now.

When healthy, she is 6 1/2 and loves to play with friends, her toys, and is interested in Chinese culture and world geography.

Charlie is 3 1/2 and likes to watch movies of Giant Octopuses on You Tube and loves to plan his upcoming birthday party and discuss the people, presents, cakes, and activities he wants to see. He also likes to explore different personas of being a "bad guy" "good guy" or "mean guy".

Rosemary is 1 and just starting to walk. She prefers to walk on her knees, and can move quite quickly! She can say, NO, Yucky, Stop, Dora, Momma, and Dadda.

Life is full and very beautiful

In Memory Of Judith Timol

Judith Timol, our beloved babysitter, fellow church member, and friend passed away last night from a sudden heart attack. She was 73. As someone who has taken care of Faith since she was 3 months old, our relationship was intimate as only it can be with someone who teaches us how to parent a first child. Judith was gentle, kind, loving, funny, patient, wise, and beautiful. I am sad that future baby Charlie will never know her, and my life is less rich now that she is gone.

Judith, I will miss you, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for the chance to know you and be your friend.
Love, Erin

almost three months!

Man, almost three months since I've updated this darn thing. Maybe its because I mentally shut down during the summer months in our sweltering nation's capital. oppressive heat=reduced blogging ability. Let's see, random recap of events--great summer vacation at Grandma betty's farm, Fatey started PreK during the second week of August, I look like a pregnant lady now, Annie had a close friend die....Life has been wierd lately. I've done two projects that I've wanted to at the house-hung some plates on the wall, and painted a hideously ugly bookshelf so it now looks nice.

will write more soon.

little johnny wants to play

Rain, rain, go away. Two and a half feet of my basement carpet is wet. Yuck. That means mold, and I'm irrationaly scared of mold. I'm going to exacto knife the wet carpet padding up today and get rid of it. ahh, the joys of homeownership.

today faith walked to charlottes carrying a teaset tray, and picking up dandilions and calling them mangos. Took us about 20 minutes to go 3 blocks.

fun.

winslow and smooch

I'm Winslow and Faith is Smooch. It's fun to have your daughter insist on calling you Winslow in all social situations. Winslow and Smooch spend most of our time looking for our friend Snook, or going to Bob's house [whoever bob is]. although this morning we were looking for sea shells and chrysallises on the sidewalk. These two characters are apparently monkeys in a pbs show called the big, big world. I like my alter ego winslow--nothing like playing with kids to remember how important the imagination is to children. I used to spend hours in my brain imagining things--I wonder when that fades out as an adult?

Whirly Gig

Life has been a whirly twirly gig lately. Bought a house. Having a new baby [boy] due Oct 26. Taking summer classes. First two items are Both major life events worthy of introspection and lengthy postings. All I can manage is this. Will follow up
